You have probably had many responses and now know that RIG is still very available.  In MIDWAY Catalog #32 it is listed on page 256 as item #567-717, at a price of $4.79 for 3 3/4 oz jar. This may be more complete than some.  AWB

From a previous post on this forum:

Rig rust preventing gun grease is often mentioned on this forum.
Here is the text of and the reply to an email I sent yesterday to Jackson Safety Products which company is the current owner of SILENCIO.

Email sent to Jackson Safety Products - April 6, 2009
To: AskJacksonProductDetailsQuestion
Is it correct that you have discontinued the production and distribution of SILENCIO RIG RUST PREVENTING GUN GREASE? I have used this product since the 1950s and am nearing the bottom of my last large can. Is is possible this wonderful product will ever be revived?
Sincerely,
Bob Roberts

Email reply - April 7, 2009
Bob,
The Rig line has indeed been discontinued and we no longer have any stock. As to the possibility of being revived? Not likely unless another entity buys the Rig portion of the company from Jackson (it's for sale if you know anybody).

I have gone ahead and forwarded this email on to the VP of product management as you are not alone in your disappointment of the discontinuation of the Rig line.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

If you can find any RIG, I'd suggest you buy it

Checked with Midway today and was told they have no RIG:( What are other possibilities for long term storage ;perhaps Cosmoline[if available] or even Vaseline[the old gun cases had an accessory jar for Vaseline].

Balistol is said to provide protection for a stored gun for several years. How long do you plan to store. The old cosmoline was good but very messy. I think all treatments must be checked on a regular basis. David

I checked another forum and it was stated that Vaseline would allow moisture to pass through-oh well. Thanks for the Ballistol tip;that may be the answer.

I highly recommend the Ballistol, I used on a Parker NH on the salt water all last year and never came close to having a problem.

Take a look at Hoppe's Gun Grease, Item No. 1102.  $2.95 for a 1-3/4oz tube.  The label states "This product is specifically compounded to protect the metal parts of guns when not in use."  Instructions suggest you clean the whole gun with Hoppe's No. 9, wipe dry, then "apply a coating of Hoppe's Gun Grease to all the metal parts to prevent rust while your gun is idle."
