These are Dam-1 barrels from a 1884 Top-Action Hammer Gun.  The gun letters as Grade 1.  No tiny scrolls here, the pattern is huge.  Dale said it was the biggest pattern he's ever seen.

Wow.  That's really neet.  I really enjoy how these really old guns are being brought back to life.

David; Your barrels look great, you have to be very pleased ! I have a set of barrels at Dales also, I don't know if he has started them yet ,I promised I wouldn't hound him,  They are off of my EH Grade , I hope they turn out as well as yours, you just never know what the pattern will look like ! I am anxious to get them back,I have a local gunsmith, friend redoing the wood finish and am not planning on redoing the case colors, it will make a nice shooter , and will look nice in the gun cabinet.

As soon as I opened the box all I could say is "WOW".  They have lots of contrast between black and white.  Dale likened them to refinishing twist barrels.  He says the finer Damascus with small scrolls are sometimes difficult to bring out the color.  He likes doing twist barrels, and these big Damascus patterns.  I wish I had them a week ago, but I'm happy to have them now just the same.  Dale did a terrific job.

David, what is your serial number.  I have a D1 and saw one on an internet gun site that had a serial number close to mine.  I notice that several D1 guns were bunched up in the Serialization Book.  My pattern looks just like yours.  I shot mine in the Smith Parker hammer gun shoot last year for the first time.

David; have you any before pics. ? The barrels I sent,  are off of a gun I picked up at a local show and the gun was so solid and nice ,as soon as I bought it I made up my mind to have the barrels redone ,they are in nice shape but really needed cleaning up, when I got home I called Dale , we discussed the barrels, I boxed them up and sent them out the next day, and never thought to take any pics. so I would have before and after photos !

Very nice Dave. They look like some of the Remington and Baker barrels with nice big high contrast dam pattern. Contrats on a great set of bbls. The 10 ga 5 frame lifter grade 2 dam pattern in nearly that large and built in 1882.

Bill,  The serial number is 42732.

Russ,   It's a nice gun and somewhat rare.  The bores are decent, not mirror,  which tells me they are original and unmessed with.  The wood and checking is nice.  Unfortunately the frame has some pitting around the bolsters and the hinge pin joint to the forearm.  The locks have some traces of case color around the hammers.

This is a before picture.
