Following are photos of a D grade equivalent underlifter owned by the PGCA. The gun is off face and rattlely and has not been displayed because of its poor condition. No decision about what to do, if anything, with the gun has been made.
In February 2009 we posted photos of the John Browning AH 12ga, the other of the two PGCA owned guns. That gun underwent a costly repair because of its rarity and historical significance. This 10ga, although a presentation gun, is neither rare nor known to be historically significant, although it could be a nice display item.

Bruce,
That’s one beautiful Parker but I don't think I've seen a gun that much off face. Do you think the lack of a dolls head had anything to do with the gun being that far off face?

Larry, I wouldn't know. We hear that the dolls head rib extension had little function, but then we see this. Maybe Austin or Bill Murphy would know.

She sure is a pretty one...and wow, it is really off face. Wonder if a shim would tighten it up enough to at least display it properly and maybe shoot it. Seems like the escutchen on the ball grip would have some historical significance. It would look great displayed anywhere, especially above my fireplace.

I have a question;how loose is too loose? Is there a numerical point past which a gun cannot be put back on face without severe corrections such as new or totally rebuilt barrels?

I have never heard of that Hugh. For that to occur you would need wear to the barrel breech ends and I don't that is possible. No, this can be put back on face by the shim method or by adding metal to the frame hinge mating surface, that's the barrel lump hook. Last edited on Sat May 2nd, 2009 12:13 pm by Bruce Day

Bruce,
Why don't you ask for a small donation from the PGCA members to fix her up? I think it's worthwhile fixing and alot of people here are fond of hammer guns. I would like to have it myself.

The board will decide what to do. The PGCA has money, its just a question of whether there is interest in the gun and if its a wise investment.

Bruce ... That's a pretty nice Lifter gun that could benefit from a little work but a total restoration might be going too far ... By the way, how many guns are in the PGCA collection, who has charge of them, and when are they on display for the rank and file members to see ?

Jim, as I said in the first post above, two. The other is the newly restored Browning gun, which we displayed most recently at the PGCA display at Pheasant Fest in Madison Wis in Feb. and posted many photos on this bbs. I don't know how many members looked at the gun there, maybe 50-100, if that's what you mean by rank and file. You didn't see those? We had quite a few members come to Madison from all over the northern midwest.

Jim, you might want to go back to the posting of three months ago in Feb if you want to see more pictures of the PGCA Browning gun. Here's the gun in its display case, a repeat of our earlier posting. Attached Image (viewed 105 times):
