After reading a few of the past turkey tales I thought I would share todays episode. As you can see this gun is not a Parker but rather a custom made 10ga. English Fowler. It is built specially for turkey hunting. By that I mean it is designed for heavy loads consisting of 120gr. 2F black powder under 2oz of nickle plated lead # 6 shot. The barrel has been jug choked making it effective to 40 yards and a little more. This morningI set up on the edge of a pasture with a patch of timber and a creek bottom on the opposite side. At 6:45 a hen came out about 150 ards away followed by 3 mature toms. They strutted for her for 20 minutes and were completely ignored. I was calling as excited as I could get and finally they started to come my way. They cr ossed the pasture in full strut, what a beautiful site.I took the lead bird at 26 yards. My 16 Parker would have done the job nicely at that distance, but I do love to hunt turkeys with tradional Fowlers and whitetails with round balls. Thank you for the opportunity to share this. I do enjoy following this website. Jim Attached Image (viewed 290 times):
