I want to thank all of our members for coming. We had great weather all three days and Ric Hemmingway did a great job on the targets. I also want to thank Allan Swanson, Chalie Herzog, Jim Hall, Daryl Middlebrook, John Davis, Art Wheaton, Tom and Irene Carter,  Ed Morgan, Bill Mullins and Charlie Price for manning the booth. I am sure I have left someone out so please give me a pass.

Results

The Challenge was won by the LCSCA. The score was 188 to 222. The targets were challenging and the Smith team shot very well. We had 43 members sign up and Smith had 64. The entry fee money was again donated to the NRA Youth Fund and a check was presented for $1070. Congratulations to the 10 shooters who advanced to Event 2. I have listed their names below. Also congrats to Carl Brandt who placed 3rd high in the Challenge. Carl also won the Oscar Gaddy award for the high score with a Damascus barrel gun. Edward Blake won the Youth Award with a score of 18. He was just 2 targets away from making the Event 2 Squad.

Thank you again, Mark.  And thank you to the booth attendants that Mark mentioned, especially the Carters.  Yup, Linda has bought our "Southern" raffle tickets.  Now on to the next event where Linda will buy the "Next Event" raffle tickets.

I am happy to report that THE SECURITY PLAN OF 2009 at The Quality Inn Motel of Sanford, NC worked. No car or pickup truck windows were broken out and no shotguns were stolen from the QI Motel during The Southern SXS of 2009. Nothing happened so the plan worked perfectly. Most of the time the average guest at The Quality Inn of Sanford could not see any evidence of any SECURITY PLAN but it was there. I took ABBY the bird dog out to go potty at 2:07 a.m. on Friday morning and there was a Sanford Police Black and White Cruiser in the parking lot of the lumber yard overlooking the QI parking lot. I also discover that those boys have UNMARKED CRUISERS, how about that !! I want to say THANK YOU to all of the shooters that contributed to the SECURITY PLAN. I also learned that some of the shooters went to the effort to personally give a GRATUITY to our guard when they encountered him at 2 or 3 a.m. while walking the dog or having a smoke. THANK YOU !!!

Good Shooting To You All, Jent

Jent, Thanks for your efforts in arranging the security. I think it is money well spent.
