It's official; spring is here for sure. One of my resident ruffies is drumming out by my paper box this morning and wayyy to close to the road, where every passing loose dog will hear him. Hopefully he has a plan B log in mind.....

Driving into my cabin last week, had to stop the car for the cock grouse who was all fanned out, ruff fluttering.  He had no interest in me or the car.  He was looking forward to a big night in Grayling:cool:   One of the great sights in nature.  Drumming has been on for a couple of weeks.

I think my guy here was just feeling rambunctious and practicing. Didn't hear him drum more than once. Hopefully he figured it out... At least it answered my question as to whether they would start drumming when there is still knee deep snow in the woods. I just need to know which log he settles on so I can put out his feed dish and water bowl.....
