For those that hadn't seen this, Larry Baer, a Visalia, California gun dealer, in 1974 wrote a two volume set on the Parker gun and sold it himself through mail order. Subscribers to the set could then reserve one of the 500 high quality portfolio sized reproductions of the Parker Bros 1895 New York Showroom catalog. If I remember correctly, the deluxe two volume set was $100 and the catalog was another $100, so it was costly, but Larry sold out. The deluxe two volume set was printed by a yearbook publisher, so it looks like a yearbook. The two volume set was later reprinted as a single volume not in yearbook style.
I don't know how hard these are to come anymore, but I think every once one becomes available. The NY catalog is screwed together and comes apart and I have heard of some being taken apart and the individual plates sold. I was fortunate to acquire this about seven years ago from a friend and have been out of the loop on present availability.
The plates are all copies of the original engravings on high quality, acid free paper. Larry claimed that he was able to gain access to the only existing original 1895 catalog, and I don't know its present whereabouts, likely closely held by a collector. Additional originals are not known to have appeared. The following are a few of those plates; every Parker gun grade is shown, the high grades in multiple plates.
Larry Baer lives in Montana, Whitefish I believe up in the Flathead Valley, and I think is mostly enjoying retirement. Some of the finest Parkers went to the west coast and Larry was instrumental in bringing them to light.
