I've been reading the forum for several months to learn about these great shotguns. I purchased my first, a VH, and would appreciate someone looking it up for me if it is in the book. S/N 234823. It is a 12 ga., 1 1/2 frame, 28", and has an uncapped round pistol grip. Would the book mention the grip, which I think is probably unusual for this grade and that it's a late one? The butt plate is a standard hard rubber dog's head without the widow's peak.
Thanks, and I really enjoy this forum.

Congrats on the VH Bill, that grip is somewhat rare at any time period.
The serialization book lists the SN on page 584 as: V H 0 B 12 28
VH with ball pistol grip 12 ga 28" bbls mfg about 1930
Wierd thing is that there are several other Ball pistol grip stocks listed on the same page but most of them are VH .410's, with one grade 3 12ga thrown in.

A ball grip on a VH except a .410, or on any late gun except a .410, is a rarity.

I took a quick picture of my first. What does the "O" and the "B" mean in the listing in the serialization book? "B" for ball pistol grip? Thanks.

A very nice Parker! Oddly enough, the B for the grip designation may be a typo or a misprint. If you will look at 234818 - 234821 and 234833 - 234836 you will see the actual designation for that style of grip, the P for the "pistol grip" not to be confused with the C for "capped pistol grip". My recent CH acquisition 84088 also is listed with a P for "pistol grip".
Upon further investigation, a "B" or "P" may have denoted the same thing, depending on who made the entry in the stock book.

The larger screw head appears to be buggered in the picture, but actually it looks to be untouched. Just a lighting thing in the picture.
