A while back there was a post about Parker art. This is a painting by Ohio artist Donald Bocela. Is that Destry's hat?

Dean,
I bought it maybe 10 to 15 years ago.

Must admit that I've never personally experienced the maloderous vapors which apparently eminate from his chapeau, but it does appear that one of the ducks has begun to swoon

When we are in some duck shack together and bedtime comes, I just politely ask Destry's Hat if it would sleep outside. It usually just shrugs, shakes itself and then waddles to the door. You open the door and let it out and it sleeps on the mat... Sometimes when it's really cold out, I don't have the heart to do it and let it just sleep by the door...It's actually a pretty considerate old hat. Destry ought to treat it better...

Gentlemen;
You have never had a hat experience until you encounter Destry's prized chapeau, plus Destry's BS that accompanies it, rivals Apple Jack's long never ending stories. He even puts buzzard feathers in them for a little extra odor and decoration.
Destry does have some decent hats but it takes an act of Congress and St Andrews Society to get him to show up wearing one.
This all based on my experience ala the Goliath and hat.

My Dad's Jones hat sits on the top of the Model 12 safe. I have worn it, but it is now way too small for my enormohead. One of these days, I will show it to Destry and pose for pictures with him, both of us wearing the hats. The last picture I have with me wearing the "hat" is in 1973. I am sitting on the tailgate of my 1972 two wheel drive Suburban, my English Pointer, Ranger, sniffing two cock ringnecks, my Model 21 field grade cradled in my lap. I traded the Model 21 for a Parker Single in March of the following year, but as least I still have the hat, and the Parker.

Bill,
I must have run onto that guy at a duck camp somewhere and he snapped a quick picture of "Hat" so he could work from it later.
Don,
You're actually one of "Hat's" favorite people, he talks about you all the time. He's resting quietly in the closet right at the moment but as soon as the first cool breeze of fall comes along he'll be whining at the door to be let out to play again. I promised him I'd do my best to take him back to Argentina again in July, I hope I don't disappoint the old fella. He's getting along in years and I don't know how many seasons he's got left in him.
Roger,
"Hat" doesn't like you but I still say nice things about you to him.
Murphy,
We should definitely get them together to visit sometime. Yours is older than mine, I'm sure he's got some great stories to tell.
Regards,
Destry and "Hat"
P.S. You can see a picture of him in younger days on the recent hunting photos thread. In the picture of Dad, Grandpa, and I, he's only about 2 or 3 years old. I've come to view him almost as Dorian Gray viewed his portrait. If I'd ever lose him I'd fear for my own sporting life......

I could see the terror in his little brim during the long hard boat ride up into the gray, wide St. Lawrence in October. Had he been blown off his copious perch that would been the end of the poor fellow... many a chapeau has seen his end on that trip...

He's been in some tough spots before, though that one was particularly "sporty" I will agree. He likes the sinkbox shooting, he's not stuck in a blind and can look all around.
