I have the option to buy GI#: 100074691 Parker Single BBL listed on guns international. Serial #178956. I'm wanting a SBT to shoot trap so I'm not necessarily looking for something of high collector value. I would appreciate honest evaluations.

Mike,

This is the gun I commented on in your previous thread but was looking at the wrong ID.

In my opinion, this is a very nice gun for the price if you are not interested in the original configuration of the stock.  It was originally a standard stock, not a monte carlo.  You can see where the wood was cut and the monte carlo added.  A nice job from the looks of the pictures.  The stock has a short LOP so it has probably been shortened but if that's ok with you, no problem.  Nice job on the cynide colors, I like the pattern better than the stripes seen on most cynide guns.  The choke may have been opened up to IM from Full but that's a fine choke for everything except long yardage handicap shooting.  It's a early SC due to the lack of a pigeon on the floor plate but I don't see the screw covering the firing pin access hole (at least the pictures don't show it) so it's not one of the first series made.

If it's what you want, the price is a good one.

The barrel is worth more than they are asking for this gun.  I can't believe it is still there.

Bill means that the barrel alone is worth more that $2,000. Just My Humble Opinion Too.

Best Regards, George

This gun was at the lacey Wa cabela's in late February.  I called and had them hold it and requested it be shipped to Lehi Utah store.   There was also a SB at the same 2K price that I missed.  I was very specific in that the gun needed to be in Lehi by a certain day as I was only in Salt Lake for 3 days on business.  I was told "no problem".  The gun arrived at the Lehi store two days after I left SLC.  I was a bit unhappy with Cabela's and decided they could just keep it.  So  thank UPS and me being bitter for your opportunity.   By the way, the forend wood has a fairly good crack on the side that is not mentioned.  I think the barrel is worth 2K only in Mr. Murphy's dreams.   I do think for a Parker shooter this is a decent buy though.
