Gents- Please see below. If you're planning on coming to the PGCA Banquet, also plan on bringing a hammer gun or two for display! It should be a fun gathering of interesting Parker guns. We need your support!
HAMMERGUN DISPLAY AT PGCA BANQUET SOCIAL HOUR
The theme of the 2008 Annual PGCA meeting will be "Hammerguns", specifically all Parker Guns with exposed hammers, including T Latches, Back Actions, Lifters and Top Actions. We have a very spacious Banquet Room this year and will have space for a display of Parkers around the room.
Josh Loewensteiner is Chairman of the display committee. PGCA is encouraging displays by presenting an award for the gun most liked by the members. The award will have an engraved legend:
THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE
PARKER HAMMER GUN DISPLAY
PARKER GUN COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL BANQUET 2008
The winner of the award will be selected by the choice of the members in attendance that view the display, and presented at the close of the banquet.
All PGCA members in attendance are invited to display any number of Parker Hammer Guns at the social hour preceding and following the annual banquet. The Chairman and Committee members will provide each displaying member with a numbered card for each hammergun that the member would like considered for the award, and list the member as holder of that number. The member will place the card adjacent to the gun in the display.
Each attendee will be given a card when receiving the banquet ticket. A member that wishes to participate in selection of PGCA's favorite hammergun can enter the display number of that gun on the card, and deposit it with the Chairman at the beginning of the dinner hour. The chairman will count the
selections, and announce The People’s Choice at the close of the banquet. The rules are posted below by the Chairman, Josh Lowensteiner.
PGCA 2008 “People’s Choice Award”
To be presented at the Annual Meeting Banquet Vintage Cup, 2008.
Purpose: To engage and encourage PGCA members to display Parker Hammer guns. To help create a forum where Parker hammer guns of all vintages can be displayed by PGCA members for the enjoyment and education of all banquet attendees. To support the PGCA in its efforts in creating a display of quantity and quality, with emphasis given to unusual or interesting examples.
Scope: The award will be chosen by a popular vote of the banquet attendees. Banquet attendees will be given a voting card as they enter the banquet hall. The Event coordinator (Josh Loewensteiner) will make a brief announcement the night of the event introducing the event and asking all attendees to participate. All ties will be broken based on serial number. Should a tie vote occur, the gun with the earlier serial number will be considered the winning entrant.
Rules of Entry:
I. AII PGCA members are invited to display hammer guns at this year's annual banquet.
2. AII PGCA members wishing to display guns at the banquet must register with Josh Loewensteiner before the event so that he can keep track of the number of guns being entered and assign each gun a registration number for display.
3. Josh will have ballots and ballot boxes at the Chairman's table.
4. The guns displayed may have a short written description alongside the assigned number. Owner's names will NOT be listed next to the gun description in interest to fairness and remove any potential bias when voting occurs.
5. Josh will keep the entry log, and be assisted by Charlie Herzog and Austin Hogan.
6. The Award will be a Smith Gun Stand with "The People's Choice" plaque.

John-
Thanks for your help! We've already got some interesting guns entered- so far a couple of 16ga hammer guns are reportedly making their way down as well as several $250 grade hammer guns and a $300 grade hammer gun.
The more the merrier!
Sincerely
Josh

I'd love to attend the banquet and display a few of my hammer guns IF it wasn't so far away for me ... Maybe some day the meetings and banquets will be in the western part of the country ... BUT I'm NOT going to hold my breath until it happens ... Just my "Two Cents" worth !

Bill-
Go back to the safe and pick out a couple of hammer guns to bring down for the display. I know you will enjoy this gathering.
Best regards,
Josh

Jim,
I can tell you from my experience that it’s worth the flight. I flew to my first PGCA meeting wondering what the h*!% I was doing. That was the first time I ever flew for a weekend event that my employer didn't pay for but it was worth every cent. I met some great people, saw some amazing guns and had a wonderful time. I was married in those days and my wife had a grand time as well.
I have since traveled to these meetings by car and by air. I must admit that driving is the only way I would travel with a Parker. I took them by air before but I don't feel comfortable doing that anymore, don't know why but that’s the way I feel?
I intend to drive from New Hampshire this year and I think that if you flew you would have about the same investment in time and money as me?
At first, I expressed the same sentiments as you but now that I know some of these Parker addicts I would go East, West, North or South to attend. It’s just too much fun to miss.
But, it’s a good thing that they don't schedule it during hunting season.
Anyway, sorry you can't make it.
Vegas could be nice

This just in- a spectacular 8bore D grade hammer gun will be joining the display. Please continue to send all your display guns in. This will likely be the most comprehensive and extensive display of Parker Hammer guns EVER assembled.
