If my memory is working today I think Bruce Day headed up this event on PGCA's behalf, great big kudos for one fine looking booth.
I could see no reason for you guys that were flapping phesant wings to want to fly away from this scene.

Bruce and Charlie and all that helped: What a great looking display. I wish I could have been there. How many Parkers did you show off? Dick Dow

It wasn't just me . Charlie Herzog, Greg Dershem, Pete Kappes, Jeff Kuss, me and local member Randy Havel. Randy is also president of Woodcock Minnesota. A new records for attendance, 29,804 on a weekend where the high Sat was -11 and down to -18, with wind chill -25. But we were hardy and walked to and from Mickey's Diner, a St Paul instuitution, on Friday night. We went to Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion at the Fitzgerald Theater for a live performance with Suzy Boggus and an extremely attractive blonde trumpet virtuoso from Britain. We were able to get in free by showing either our Obama for president pins or in Charlie's case, he pulled out his wallet sized photo of Hilary Clinton.
Lots of interest in Parkers and we heard all sorts of stories about the Parkers at home. We signed up some new members and sold about 340 raffle tickets, plus all the calendars we had, gun sleeves, etc. Havel seems to know everybody and nobody could pass by without being grabbed by him and buying a raffle ticket.
We had the raffle gun, a G grade 20ga damascus, probable value $8,000-10,000. Lots of interest and everybody wanted to pick it up and take it grouse hunting. I think there will be lots of interest among the PGCA membership in the gun and somebody will be very fortunate. These small bore damascus are extremely desireable.
We had 31 Parkers there from an A 20ga to a 12ga Trojan, about the full range of the Parker experience. Lots of people I think walked away who said they would try to find a gun. One serious fellow has asked my help in trying to find a fluid steel A grade, straight stock 12ga. You know not to hold your breath in that search.
We had a 20ga CHE dam, 20ga BHE dam, 20ga BHE Acme, 28ga CHE Acme., 20ga PH Twist, 4 Bernard C's, including a hammer gun, a CHE pigeon gun, a CH duck gun, and a CH 12 with ventilated rib. A bunch of D grades in 20 and 12, a set of V grades, several hammer guns including a pretty little 16ga lifter. Some shooter V's, a decent 1911 BHE 12/32, Charlie's BHE 12ga damascus that makes my mouth water. Jeff had a stunning and available DH 12/16 on a 1 frame set. As nice a Parker collection as a person is likely to find anywhere. Some visitors spent over an hour looking and asking about Parkers. They seemed to be knowledgeable and we did not get many uninformed questions about shooting damascus guns. We wanted to demonstrate that shootable Parkers are available from low price to high value.
Lots of contacts, requests to do articles for magazines, invitations to come hunt, etc.
Our good member Carl Beers just moved back from South Carolina to Minnesota. Said something about it being too warm for comfort in the south in the winter and he had to get back to country where spring is anticipated and much appreciated. Carl seems to be a hardy sort and anxious to encounter frostbite.
We met Capt Scott Gerling, U S Army ( US Military Academy grad) tours in Iraq, infantry, a Parker enthusiast. There with his father, another Parker man.
Drive home down through Iowa was cold, drifting snow, CH and I stopped for the night in Albert Lea MN rather than running the risk of sliding off the road into a snowed in ditch at midnight.
We didn't find any fine Malbecs or Cuban cigars( or even look for any) , but we did find Hamm's beer and Roy-Tans. We had a fine dinner at the Downtowner Char broil Grill in St Paul. As good a piece of sirloin as I have ever had. Randy Havel took us there. You know we have some great members who have a real interest in Parkers, hunting and helping others, and although it sure was cold up there, there are lots of fine Minnesotans with warm hearts.

A nice report Bruce. Wish I could have traveled halfway across the country just to see that array of fine Parkers. Sounds like you had a lot of fun doing it too.
Jeff, that's a great picture of the Parker booth. . . but the others are a little weird
Just kidding. . . you guys obviously had too much fun.

I just wanted to say it was a pleasure to meet you all there on Fri. night. It was nice to put a face towards some of the names I see here on the forum. The display of Parkers was worth the price of admission itself. Hope I didn't get too much drool on them! At least I got to fondle a couple of them while helping carry them to the safe, a little piece of Heaven.

OK - those hats SLAY ME!!!! Thanks Jeff for posting this up!!!
I am so sorry I missed this event, as Charlie Herzog contacted me in November of last year, as he just reserved the rooms on his credit card - and told me his wife had ironed the linen for the display table - which, based on the pics - she certainly did - as the display looks AWESOME!!! To Charlie's wife - GREAT GOING (and will you help me out with my ironing?? )
A lot of folks pulled this together, including trucking a lot of Parkers to the show, the display signs and stands... And- including selling a bunch of Raffle tickets (with a sign that someone had made up)..!
But - about those hats.....

What do you mean " about those hats".
Experienced pheasant hunters always wear hats like those because it serves as a decoy hat.....tricks the pheasants into holding tighter. If you guys would come to the Pheasant Fest you would learn about such techniques.
The same way with the pheasant mascot. Next time you go hunting have one of your buddies wear a pheasant suit. I guarantee it will make a difference in your hunt.

So where do you guys get the "PGCA" "Patches" on your shirts? I don't see them on this site?

Some of us more savvy deer hunters in Vermont do the same thing in the ruttin' season. We put on a deerhide suit complete with a big set of antlers and douse ourselfs down with doe-in-estrous juice (you can order it in a nice squeeze bottle) and run around in the woods snortin' and scrappin' with bushes and tree trunks...
Sure Bruce, sure. . .

Those are hand carved wood badges with individual's names, done by Mary Kimball of http://www.featherwoodcreations.net. 763 227 9444. She also does stunning wood feathers, and we were wearing her carved pheasant feathers.
Glad you asked because she does special work and I recommend her to anyone seeking a special gift.

Parker pages? Still waiting for my Dec edition. Sent a email to the contact and still waiting! I'm probably the only member that has two membership numbers! Why doesn't this site have the patches?

Mary Kimball reminded me that she met Bud Grant, former Vikings coach, at our booth.
These events I believe are productive for furtherance of Parker collecting. There are other events such as a California Side by Side Society, Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, etc. Wouldn't it be nice if members who had contacts in management of these organizations would step up and put on a nice PGCA exhibit at those annual meetings. Not long ago there were a couple fellows who wrote about a fancy duck hunting trip. The annual convention in Memphis is another long haul for some some of us, but for those involved in DU, maybe they could step up.
