Attention all Fox Shotgun enthusiasts! The AH Fox Collectors Association Inc has been formed. This new membership association is a formalization of http://www.foxcollectors.com Fox Collectors that was founded in 2006.
The primary objective of our organization is to stimulate interest and educate members about the history and production of AH Fox Shotguns. We will use our Web Site, http://www.foxcollectors.com our Forum, and our semi-annual Newsletter to meet that objective. In addition, we will publish an Annual Directory of Members
The organization also has plans to set up educational table top displays at gun shows and shooting events such as the Vintagers. In addition, our club annual meeting will be held during the same time period as the Vintagers, September 2008.
The Board of Directors is currently working to co-sponsor shooting events with other double gun focused clubs and organizations. A calendar of events will published on the web site and in the newsletter.
The Board of Directors is Craig Larter, David Noreen, Frank Srebro, Paul Plunkett III and Steve Cambria.
For information about joining follow this link to our membership sign up page http://foxcollectors.com/membership1.htm or write to: AHFCA PO Box 2715 Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.

Thanks for all your hard work Craig, and may your endeavor be a huge success. This fella was partial to Fox guns

Maybe we can have a TR Memorial LC vs. Fox vs. Ithaca Challenge at the 'Doubles in the Desert' shoot March 1? We know he had one of each-any documentation out there of a Roosevelt Parker?

Mr.Dunkle-you now have TWO listings for the Fox group on the Links section. The one that was there was totally adequate but I admire your initiative!

Hi Don!
Thank you!! I guess it's a "good news" - "bad news" thing???
Good News? - someone actually reads my posts besides me..
Bad News? - my inability to recognize obvious errors on my part only confirms my advancing state of senility....
Don - my thanks again!

Let us not forget that Mr. Fox set the world's record on pairs with a Parker. Congratulations and good luck to the Fox club. Last edited on Fri Jan 18th, 2008 03:20 pm by John Davis

Now that would be a great find. I'm unaware of any pictures but that doesn't mean there aren't any.

Is there a serial number we could be looking for? What grade of gun was the Fox Parker?

I am looking for a parker and asked one dealer about 0 frame guns and got this response below.....ok, he has a Fox he wants to sell me.....but would those of you who own and shoot the Fox give me an education about frame size.
"I believe the Fox to be a better gun than the Parker in all but collectibility. They are lighter, 16ga. guns on 20ga. frames just like the "O" frame 16, but have a balance that is just hard to beat."

Essentially the A.H. Fox Gun Co. had four frame sizes -- 12-gauge, 16-/20-gauge, 12-gauge Super-Fox and 20-gauge Super-Fox. Individual guns may have gotten a few more or less file strokes depending on the final weight called for, but I don't know of any American maker that had the number of frame sizes of Parker Bros.

Twelve for Parker. Add one more for the Parker Repro. I wonder if someone owns all thirteen?

Bill;Dave; I think I counted the same number, from 000 to 7, with 1/2 and 1 1/2 added in the DGJ Article. However that little 20 ga lifter that I brought to the Annual meeting poses a question about this, as the firing pin separation is 29/32. Is it a 001/2? is it really the 000 and the 13/16 inch 000 frame 410 really a 0000?
However the interesting point for collecting remains intact; Parker made more frame sizes than any other manufacturer.
Best Austin

Austin, you brought up an interesting point. The 000 Parker frame, if they followed the 1/16" rule, would be correctly termed a 0000. That leads me to believe that the Repro 0000 frame is 13/16". Your little 20 gauge lifter frame was probably never put into production for many guns, but it would be the legitimate 000 frame. I wonder how many more of those could be found? I wonder how many 000 frame 28 gauge guns were made? I think we have determined that the 1/2 frame is nothing spectacular, just a #1 frame with the front end filed down so a #0 frame forend will fit. Maybe Parker just ran short of #1 forend forgings and found it easier to reprofile some frames than to forge new #1 frame forend irons.

Thanks , Bill. I am beginning to prepare an article on that little lifter twenty for the Spring Parker Pages, and welcome any other input. It is possible that a 29/32 frame 28 ga top action exists; we know there is a 1 frame hammerless 10.
That is why Parker collecting is more interesting
Best, Austin

Wow,A 1 frame 10! I had to go do some measuring after that bit of info.Lets see 1 frame =1.060 between centers. I measured an Remington Arrow shell it was .852 at the brass. So 1.060-.852 = .208 of material between the barrels divided by 2 =.104 wall thickness at the chamber! Very doable but I would love to see that great little 10!
