I wonder if you could even get briley tubes. I don't think they make them for a 14 ga. and there is more to it than just turning them down.

The shell for the 14 gauge Model 12 was an all aluminum case with even a thin aluminum top wad. I have one in my collection.

I had Briley put a permanent chamber liner in my 24 ga to create a great 28 ga.
You could have that done for a 16 ga chamber and be in business!

About 20 years ago, I ran across an older fellow that had a Parker. I asked if I could see it and he told me where he lived. The gun was a 14 gauge back action Parker with Laminated Steel barrels. There was a small hole in one of the barrels just past the forend as I remember. He said that he never had used 14 gauge shells in it, but had shot 16 gauge shells out of it for years. I offered him $400.00 and he was holding out for $500.00. I may try to find the house again and see if the old gun is still hanging over the door to the bedroom.

Daryl, Winchester and UMC both made paper shells for the 14 gauge at one time. The UMC is tan and Winchester is yellow in color. I have one of each. The UMC has Union on the headstamp and Winchester has Repeater. There were probably others, too. Check out Pages 523-524 of TPS on "A" and"B" shells. There was a 12B/14A chambering offered by Parker. Those pages explain it best. Good luck! Bill

This is a German Guild Drilling, chambered for 24ga x 24ga x 6.3mm. Just a smidge over 6 lbs., it is light, sweet, crisp and beautifully made. Great wood, nice engraving - not a Parker, but one of my favorite guns!

At one point Eley made 14 gauge shells. I have one unfired/never loaded paper hull in my posession that was made by them, but I am not really sure of the vintage.

I had a 14 ga Charles Lancaster hammergun underlever for sale in an ad in the DGJ last year. But, I do not think that there are any shells on the market, at least that I could find .

When I'm in the blind with my tens and I run out of shells, I borrow twelves from anyone close. If I had a 14 and couldn't find brass, I'd be shooting 16 gauge shells.

Joe: Glad to know there's more than one J.N. Scotts 14-bore out there. As to value, the gun I have has lots of novelty value, but I have no idea as to monetary value and have $0 dollars in vested; UPS just left a box by the door one day, and inside that box was the Scotts gun. I learned later that a collector friend in New Mexico sent me the gun because he thought I might like it, which I did! I've never shot the gun, but another friend in Alaska has a 14-bore LeFever that he shoots regularly. For his shooting he hand-loads brass cases which are modified 14-bore Greener police cases. The rims on these cases are too thick; so he turns them down to the correct size; then enlarges the primer hole to accept the 209 primer. I don't remember his load receipe; but it has proven very effective given the pics of the grouse and ptarmigan he sends me.
