The First Annual American Heritage Youth Side by Side Championship

 

Its Purpose is to encourage youth participation in the heritage and traditions of the shooting sports and of classic side-by-side shotguns.

 

This new competition will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. on the 5-stand field, the weekend of the Spring Southern Side by Side Championship at Deep River Sporting Clays and Shooting School in Sanford, NC owned and operated by Bill Kempffer ( https://www.deepriver.net ). Sign-up is the day of the event at the 5-stand field and additional details may be found at www.parkerguns.org

 Shooting Participants: The event will be open to any shooter of a side-by-side shotgun between the age of 10 – 17 years.

 RST Classic Shot Shells will be furnishing shells to all the participants.

 The Parker Gun Collectors Association will provide trophies for winners of each age group.

 At the conclusion of the competition one lucky youth shooter participant’s name will be drawn for a sixteen-gauge Parker Bros. Trojan rejuvenated by Bachelder Master Gunmaker of Michigan.

Youth Side-by-Side Championship Rules

 

  1.   Shooters may use a side-by-side shotgun of any make.

  2.   Shooters are required to use RST shot shells for the qualifying event.

  3.   The event will be shot at the 5 stand venue.

  4.   Shooters to be grouped according to age: 10 – 11, 12 – 13, 14 – 15, 16 – 17

  5.   Shooters will shoot 6 targets at each station for a total of 30 shots.

  6.   Top gun in each group will be awarded a trophy.

  7.   In case of a tie, scorecards will be compared and the first missed target will eliminate that shooter. If still tied a shoot-off will take place. A coin will be tossed and the winner will determine who will shoot first. The loser will choose which station will be shot.

  8.   Every shooter will have his or her name entered in a drawing for the Parker Trojan to be held at the conclusion of the event. 

  9.   Age groups 10 – 11 and 12 -13 must have an adult gun bearer standing directly behind them to act as a safety monitor.

  10.    All shooters must sign waivers and ‘Hold Harmless’ agreements.

  11.    Eye and ear protection is required of all participants at all times while at shooting stations.

  12.    All Deep River rules are to be observed at all times.


About the newly developed 2018 Youth Shoot

Officially it’s the American Heritage Youth Side by Side Championship

Purpose: To encourage youth participation in the heritage and traditions of the shooting sports and of classic American side-by-side shotguns.

 Sponsors and Participants:

  • Gary Carmichael - Member PGCA Board of Directors is donating a Parker Bros 16 gauge Trojan to the event

  • Brad Bachelder – Master Gunsmith, is completely refurbishing the Trojan gun to be given away.

  • RST Classic Shot Shells – Morris Baker has agreed to furnished shells to all the participants.

The PGCA Board of Directors will work to promote the event through Parker Pages, the PGCA Website, various print and online publications as well as to reach out to the other side-by-side collecting and shooting organizations such as LC Smith, A.H. Fox, LeFever, etc. in order to enlist their help and participation.

 

PGCA will provide trophies for winners of each age group.

 

Date and Time: The shoot will take place the weekend of the Spring Southern Side by Side event on April 28, 2018. The exact time of the event will be determined by Bill Kempffer and will be announced in the Spring 2018 Issue of Parker Pages.

Fifth Annual Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony
April 28, 2018


 

The PARKER Gun Foundation will host the Fifth Annual PARKER Gun Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction ceremony at 7pm on Saturday April 28, 2018 honoring Bill Mullins, Art Wheaton and Mark Conrad

The event, as usual, is in conjunction with the Southern SXS Championships and so it is very popular.

The Flame Steakhouse in Sanford, North Carolina at 109 Carbonton Road will be our venue. The food will be excellent, the hospitality warm and for our shooters and collectors/buyers, the location is very close to the Southern and our PGCA hotel. 

The food is fabulous, the guests are the top of our collecting and shooting fraternity and the honorees are distinguished. As is our custom, we encourage our honorees to bring some of their favorites from their collections to display for us. We know these fellows have some special treasures.

It is a night to remember.
