Default Elliott Case from Abercrombie & Fitch

Recently acquired a nice all original Elliott style case sold by Abercrombie & Fitch. Good usable condition with very nice original interior and all straps in good condition. Has the name Kenneth M Owen and Wayzata, Minnesota, USA in gold on one end. From my research (I was kind of bored today) I found out he was born 1899 and died 1966. Case will hold up to 30" barrels and it opens on both ends. On one end, when open there is a long leather strap inside and I have no idea what that is for. Case even has what I believe is the original tag on it with part of the owners name on it. Very cool case and could not have been used very much. If you can provide any information on it I'd appreciate it. There is a number on one of the end straps 1756FD and 12G under it. You can contact me at esetter5@me.com if you come up with anything.

They were sourced from RedHead. That internal long leather strap is just a spacer I think. I have had a bunch of these cases and most of the time the leather strap is folded in the bottom of the action slot and has never been used. They are great cases for vintage guns and I buy every one I get my hands on. Nice find!

Thanks for the information. I agree with you about the internal strap. I think it is just there to take up space if you have a shorter barrel. Only thing I could think of. Very heavy and well built case. Even the brass buckles are super heavy duty.

Reggie is your case marked Redhead? Mine is not marked by a maker that I can find.

When RedHead sold them direct they were branded with RedHead. When RedHead made them for another retailer like A&F then they were branded A&F. Sometimes the A&F cases will have tooled inserts inside the lid. A&F branded stuff was always better in some way.

Mine has no maker on it. I also have a LOM case with the exact designs in the leather and the same hardware that is marked Redhead.

The long wide leather strap fixed at the midpoint and to one end inside the case is a sling stop for the buttstock and receiver section of the gun to prevent undue movement.
