Jeff,

I looks a lot better than when we first saw it. What did you use to clean her with?

Harry

Hi Harry,

I actually used several methods.

1.) Aerokroil and a soft bristle tooth brush. (elbow grease)
2.) Aerokroil and white terry clothe (hand rubbed)
3.) Blast cabinet with plastic media and the pressure dialed way down.

I'm pretty happy with the results. I really only wanted to remove the grime
and leave all surface finishes as is.

Best regards,

Jeff

Good on ya! It is amazing what can be done without steel wool. Cheers!

AeroKroil is the aerosol version of Kroil "The oil that creeps" penetrating oil from Kano Laboratories. The stuff is amazing to loosen up rusty bolts you thought you would never get off. It is the only penetrating oil I have now in my garage for repairs and home projects since having thrown out PB Blaster because Kroil just simply blows it away. I never cared for the stink either PB has when you use it. I have used this to free up a frozen piston on an engine letting it soak overnight. I recommended it to one of my friends who owns a auto repair shop. This is all he uses now.

It is also great for removing fouling and leading in a bore. I use the liquid version in the can to moisten patches to clean the bores of my rifles, hand guns, and shotguns. For severe leading, let the bore soak for a while, brush, push a patch through and see chunks of lead fall out. I have also used Kroil and 0000 steel wool to dissolve and remove surface rust on a LC Smith Syracuse E grade hammer gun. After cleaning and applying a coat of Forby's Tung oil, the barrels came out perfect.

Great stuff.

Aerokroil is great stuff. I agree; it's the best rusty bolt freeing compound available. I just heard about something called "Crane Oil" that loosens rust.... anyone heard of it?? Purported to be hell on loosening surface rust.

Charlie, to get this stuff, you may have to order online. Midway and Brownwell's sells it but I order direct from http://www.kanolabs.com/ I think you save a few bucks too. If you go to the kanolabs website, click penetrating-lubricating oils on the menu on the left. A new page opens and Kroil/Aerokroil product is on the top. They have a risk free trial offer where you buy a can of Kroil, they offer a free can of Aeorkroil with your purchase. So if you buy a $7 dollar 8oz can of Kroil, you get a $11 can of Aerokroil free to try out.

Buying online from them you do get flyers in the mail about once a quarter. Unlike most junk mail, I find them pretty entertaining to read.

We used Krol as a bore cleaner after a day of wearing out prairie dogs with 22-250's. Good stuff
