Default The cost of lead shot

Yes, I know, it's going up. Can we get an informal poll of what folks are actually paying (not including shipping) for a 25lb bag of magnum shot? I can get Eagle. The reason I ask is I'm finding $43, nothing cheaper. A friend (acquaintance more like it) is driving damn near Pittsburgh, about 275 miles from his home, to get ten bags at $39. That seems just stupid as hell. The $43 is next door. I have been told prices are going to continue to go up for lead but then again this is the dude selling the lead.

Andy,

Where are you that you can get a 25 pound bag of lead shot for $43.00?
What part of the USA?

Here, in upstate NY near Rochester, we're paying $55.00 before sales tax for Remington STS shot.

Sure would like to find it cheaper.

Bill Upstate NY central region, problem being it's a bag here or there. I have to work so can't "camp out" to get it. I'm OK getting a few bags at a time, a few weeks apart since i'm very close. It builds slowly but he mostly gets 4 and 5 and I want 8 for clays. I'm not driving to Pittsburgh for it. This madness has to end.

On May 4 I paid $41.95 for Eagle magnum. That was in northern PA.

I was told and not verified that it can be had for $39 if you buy a ton.

I bought 30 bags of Eagle Brand magnum shot right before the Southern for $38/bag w/o tax. Plenty of shot available.

A friend who is a dealer delivered my six bags of #8 to a shoot for $41.00 a bag. Delivery was a big deal because a trip to Shyda's or CAC would be costly and probably not result in any savings. Tax and gas you know. I have heard that PG Trap and Skeet will sell components, price unknown. Six bags will load over 2500 12 gauge shells, 4800 .410, well over 1000 8 gauge. I'm 75, so maybe a lifetime supply. If I use it all, I will open up the #4 and BB supply.

We were checking some of our usual venders for shot and if my memory serves the least expensive was $40+ a bag and that’s wholesale not retail . But with that being said all of our usual venders are out of stock as far as shot and primers are concerned.
