Default my 28 repro

I just read a thread about how superior an original is to a repro. I agree, there is a difference, but here is the only point that matters to me. My repro is here with me. If it were original, there would be no gun there, the price would be totally out of the question. That is all that matters. I love old guns, but one can do only what one can do.

I agree: Sure, a 28 Ga 28" DHE original would be nice, but it just won't happen, and in fact, I've not seen one. I love my reproduction and couldn't possibly afford an original.
Besides, as time goes by, even the repro's are getting to be "old."
I shoot it, lovingly clean it each time, and watch the case colors fade, and who knows; maybe if I hit the lottery, I will get it colored by Turnbulls. But for now, at the tender age of 73, I will just shoot it until I die and the wife sells all the guns so she can travel.

I don't think there's any kind of stigma with owning repros. They are what they are - great guns. I have a 28 that's never been fired yet. In some respects they are better.

Repros are usually a great buy and are an excellent value. Besides that, they're good shooters too. I often take my Repro 28 out hunting instead of my VHE 28 or my DHE 28 for the simple fact that I cherish my originals but I only enjoy my Repros. No stigma at all that I can think of.

I'll probably get dinged for this statement. The only reason why I joined this forum is because I bought a 28ga repro. The original Parkers are nice guns, but a 28ga is too expensive for me.

After joining the forum I became a PGCA a member. The 28ga repros are nice guns built with modern manufacturing methods, steel and better stock dimensions. Other than a collectibility factor, I'm not sure why an original is superior.

Well Sam I'll tell you what I'm saving it for. I have never been on a dove hunt. It's something I have wanted to do for years but just haven't had it happen ... Yet. So if and when I ever get to go I'll use it then.

To me the only negative is the Way the stock ends with the skeleton butplate..
it looks different to me. I saw in 1985 a lot of Otis Odoms Parkers ..the repro stock just does not look like the ones he had...but a little to late to compare. His guns are with a lot of PGCA MEMBERS
