Default Kidd's Place

Drakes was closed this Sunday, so Julia and I went to nearby Kidd's Place. It was good as well. Friendly staff and owners and they are planning a second clays course. I shot my 0 grade lifter 12 gauge and Julia shot her VH 16.

Yes we need another trip to Drakes/Kidds. A second annual shoot.

I think Julia won, but I was handicapped with a 32" full/full lifter. We weren't keeping score

Is Kidd's place in a different county than Drakes? I'm curious as to why they are open on Sunday and Drakes can't be.

I don’t know about Drakes situation but,

Clays course I shoot in Eastern North Carolina has a use permit from the County to operate a Sporting Clays Range. Issued years ago, covers Clays only, he can’t run any other shooting activity on the property without going back to get his permit extended. Number of attempts by new neighbors to close him down, none got further than the inspectors visit. They confirmed he has not exceeded his permit.

North Carolina has a “ Agricultural Tourism” exemption for farms allowing some farm related business to operate without permits. Example roadside produce stand, it’s not real specific could cover a lot or a little depending on the situation and how the local officials enforce the law.

First post on Drakes mentioned problems with the Ag Tour exemption. If he is going for a permit now it's specific to his operation, another may have a permit that allows something else.
