I'm with you Don. Had it been a graded hammer gun I may have placed a bid but that one wasn't my 'cup of tea'.

Would you have been tempted to buy this gun if you had approximately 50 brass hulls and reloading tools to go with it. I think it will be a southwest Kansas rooster gun on a winter day with 6-8 inches of powder snow

Sounds like Tom hawkins bought himself a new toy - congratulations on the DH 14 Tom! I thought it would have gone for more than your high bid. The brass shells and tools make all the difference. Have fun with it!

I'm STILL PO'd over the 14 gauge lifter gun that Cabelas screwed me out of after I'd made what I thought legitimate, iron-clad, credit card deal by phone with a salesman in the gun department of their Lacey Washington store.

Mr. Hawkins can be said to have to have "taken a strong position" in 14 gauge Parkers. Good for you Tom. I hope the pheasants aren't rising too much with all the drop on that DH. Have fun with it.

Actually I take 2 7/8-3 inch drop, same as my father. I have trimmed off my share of stocks to meet my drop over the years. My dad left me the old doubles as my brothers were more interested in the pistols and semi-automatics. He preferred pre 1935 American made doubles. I guess the apple didn't fall from the tree. My youngest son latched on the VH 28 ga. but wants to shoot a 16 gh this year, I'm sure my dad and grandad, both die hard bird hunters, would be proud as he also prefers doubles. While the new toy will have a place the old twist hammer fourteen with straight grip will still be the favorite.

Tom,

Sounds like you made a dandy buy there, always nice to bring the old tools back together with the guns they were intended for.
