Stiff cocking rod

My DH has always been a tougher then my other parkers to open up and cock, after reading some older threads on here, I am suspecting that the cocking rod my have some grime or gunk on it.

While I have gotten very good at taking off the stock and removing seers and such, our helpful FAQ, doesn't cover how to get to the cocking rod.

Is this located under the sideplates?

Well I have shot that area up with oil and even CLP, so it may be in the hammers that are gunked up. Or it may just be really stiff to cock. It isn't too difficult, just much stiffer then my others.

Some things work best when disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, and reassembled with only a slight amount of lubricant.

My DH is also hard to open and it was sent off to one of our double gun experts and thoroughly cleaned and lubed and it is still stiff. Mine may have been put back on face an fit really tight. May be some more shooting will loosen it up.

Is the gun more difficult to open when both barrels are fired than only one barrel, and does it open more freely after the hammers are cocked (Neither barrel fired)? The guilty part will be more easily identified knowing these details.

It seems to open easier when live firing. It is still a little stiff, but not as bad as when I dry fire the gun. Could just be adrenaline from shooting. It is easy to open once hammers are cocked. Haven't tried it yet with just one hammer cocked.

Sounds like a total cleaning is in order. Spring pockets might be loaded up, as well as cocking slide trying to slide on old, dried up, or no, grease.
It isn't a lug-in-frame clearance issue if it opens easily after it's cocked.
