Be advised that as of today (March 7, 2014), this event has been cancelled for 2014 by the promoters. Information to that effect should be posted on their website>

I'm sorry to hear of this. I know Chuck Brunner has been very busy lately with work. It was a fun shoot and I'm glad I made it.

Nothing regarding the cancellation is posted on the web site.

sorry to hear that. That was my first ever side by side shoot and it was a good time.
I got to meet many of the PGCA incorrigables. Glad i decided to go to the Southern.

Tracey Brunner is the website Administratorette and has likely not updated it yet. My information came directly from John Allgood in a phone conversation this morning. K.

Did they give a reason for the cancellation?

The reasons given for the cancellation were that (1) Chuck will be in the midst of organizing the startup of a major construction operation during that time, and that (2) John Allgood suffered significant and substantial losses to his timber holdings on his farm in Georgia that requires his attention.

The timber was severely damaged by this winters ice, snow and wind storms to the extent that it is now primarily a salvage operation. The timber still has value, but the damaged trees must be removed before the Southern Pine beetle breeding season, which occurs in May into June. Apparently their preferred environment for reproduction is newly-damaged timber.

John said he will attend the Southern SxS as planned, but will proceed to his farm on closing Sunday and meet with the sawyers on Monday morning to schedule harvesting operations shortly thereafter.
