Parker V 12 GA Shield question
I have a Parker 12 GA V that appears to be a solid shooter.
Somewhere along the line, the barrels were re rust blued .... but that included the receiver.
Then somewhere further along the line most of the blueing on the receiver was removed. A little slopping but now mostly in the white. I will figure out what to do about that at some point.
The butt stock was also replaced with a pretty attractive piece of wood. Forearm is original.
I havbe no idea who did all that or why.
I plan on doing some work to the finish on fore end and butt stock. They are close in color but different in finish. I'd like to get them a bit closer in match.
I plan on hunting quite a bit with this gun, so I'm thinking oil finish.
The point of my posting though is to ask on the shield.
Galazan seems to have 2 versions with slightly different sizes.
Nickel Shield: 13/16" long x 5/8" wide (outside), fastener: 1 nail.
and ....
Nickel Shield: 9/16" long x 7/16" wide (outside), fastener: 1 nail.
Which is correct? I plan on adding while working on the stock.
Thank you for any advice.
Henry
ps .... my family owns a number of vintage guns and we typically don't do anything to change them.
