Default First Blood for the Repro

I was fotunate enough to blood my recently aquired 28 gauge repro Monday in the woods of northern New Hampshire over a nice point by my good friends male EP Cider. This makes 3 straight falls I've bagged a bird in this cover over Cider. 3 years ago it was the first grouse with my Berreta 687 28 gauge.

Congrats Dan! How is the hunting so far? It's like 102 in the shade here right now. Too damn hot.

Too hot Andy. We hunted early when temps started in the low 50's and moved a fair amount of birds in familiar covers but by 11:30 or so it was close to 70 and too warn to expect much from the dogs or the old guys following them. We chose to enjoy a good lunch and a cold beverage at our host's house and do some office work remotely. In all honesty, I'm becoming a fan of an early start and hunting 3 to 4 covers of 1 - 1.5 hours each and then having a good lunch and working a bit or taking a nap before dinner and a couple adult beverages.

Thanks Dan. We have had poor weather for bird hunting, fine weather for sun tanning this entire week. Hopefully things cool off and you have a great rest of the trip!

A special covert. It should be christened now with an appropriate name. Congratulations!

Hot here too. Lousy weather for bow hunting. Half hour after dark they're crawling all over since the temps drop fast once that sun sets.

I have probably passed you on one of our favorite dusty forest roads the past few days. I agree very warm. We have been hunting next to streams and giving the pups ample water breaks.

We're a bit south of you Chris. I was hoping to take a day and run up to meet you but we cut the trip short for a few reasons. I'm hoping to be back up later in the season if the weather holds. Goo luck the rest of your trip.
