Default Parker Trojan Reassembly

Guys -

I would appreciate some help on reassembling my Trojan. I bought this one as a shooter as it had already been reblued and the wood refinished. I took the wood off for refinishing and now I am reassembling.
After my initial reassembly, it was obvious something was wrong. After opening the action, it can't be closed without pushing the top lever over like you are opening the action. Also, the trigger won't move. Other than that, it works great.
I used Brian Dudley's excellent gallery to disassemble and have tried to study the pictures in detail. My first specific question concerns the trip pin. Mine appears to have two pieces: an L-shaped piece and a stepped cylinder. I know the stepped cylinder resides inside the L-shaped piece, but mine looks different than Brian's. The one in the photo gallery seems to have the cylinder jutting above the top line of the L-shaped piece. When I drop mine in the hole, it falls all the way in the hole and is flush with the top of the hole. Does anyone think this could be part of my issue?
Any other ideas? I really appreciate the time anyone takes to respond. This site is a huge resource to us new, struggling Parker aficianados!
Thanks again - Kyle
