Default 2 frame barrels on a 1 frame gun

Maybe this has come up before, but I can't find anything in a search. I have a PH 12 with original 30 in twist barrels. The research letter states that it was sent back (several years later) to have 26" 2 frame barrels made for it. Unfortunately, I don't have those barrels.

I find it odd that 2 frame barrels would have been requested...and that they would fit well.

Any thoughts?

They would not fit the frame, being quite proud, and the firing pins would be out of alignment. Maybe they just wanted heavier barrels in terms of weight???

Keavin, I assumed the same thing, but the research letter clearly says 2 frame barrels. The barrels on the gun, original I assume, are clearly stamped a 1 frame. I guess it could be an error in the records, but that also seems odd since frame size is so seldom mentioned.

Frame sizes are not interchangeable when it comes to barrels.

I’d really like to see the firing pin strike points on the primers of shells fired in that 2-frame set. If Parker Bros. did it they must have known something, or done something, th make it work.

Maybe someone made a mistake when the letter was written maybe have the serial number looked at again for the record

Garry, why didn't you just send me an e-mail asking that question? It was a mistake. The record says "fit extra pr. of 12/26 #2 Damascus bbls." I interpreted is as a #2 frame set of barrels but, thinking about it, the #2 meant that they were Damascus barrels for a grade #2 gun but put on a PH #1 grade gun. I've revised your letter.

Now we'll always wonder if that extra set of barrels was really Damascus as would have been on a Grade 2 Parker or Twist as would be on a Grade 1 Parker......

Thanks, Chuck. It never really entered my mind to question the letter. I thought it was something unique...and intriguing.
