Default 28 gauge top lever trouble

I have a 28 gauge Repro with two triggers
That i am having trouble occasionally making
The top lever open the gun. Posting here because
It should open like old Parkers. I have csmc
.410 barells on it and have shot 500 or more 410
Shells and probably shot 15000
28 gauge shells with it. Top lever would not go right
Took foreend off ,bothshells were fired. Safety was frozen
Tried tapping around saftey and bumped on piece of
Wood, pulled or tried to pull frozen triggers and finally it opened

What do you all think is wrong

Thanks in advance

It almost sounds like the safety push rod in the stock head is bound up some how. IMO the action needs to be disassembled & inspected.

If your gun is malfunctioning with the CSMC .410 barrels, then there is no way to analyze what the problem is without inspecting the actual gun/barrels.

Rather than pound on anything more, I'd get the gun to a competent Parker 'smith for a professional fix. You will be money ahead in the long run.

Kirk Merrington, Del Grego or Brad Bachelder are good choices.

Not opening may be the shell rims sticking in the rim recesses, especially if you're using Win AA hulls, which are generally out of round. Been there. The safety on my 28ga Repro gets stuck if I use the gun in wet weather. I have to work it by pressing it against a tree, which is no fun. Once the gun dries out it's fine again. I do not know the exact issue as I have not taken it apart, but I'm guessing it has to do with the safety link binding in the swelling wood somehow.

The .410 barrels are clearly the problem. I'm certain the issue is affecting your scores at the skeet range due to the mental distraction. I will graciously allow you to send them to me immediately so that you will never have to give the matter another ounce of thought.

You're welcome

If one set of barrels has the issue and the other not, The barrels likely need additional fitting in the bolt bite area.
