The sentiments are much appreciated. She was a fine dog that has now joined the list of wonderful hunters that I have been blessed to accompany me in my life. I have a fine Elhew pointer to take me through the hunting season but with the kind of hunting I do I need a pair, so I have made arrangements to pick up a new Lewellin pup from Houdini kennels in Minnesota in September. She will be 6 and 7 months old in Jan and Feb, old enough to start working 100 or more quail a day out towards the Panhandle.
I believe the best way to get a young dog going fast is to get them on wild birds early and paired with an experienced older dog that knows how to approach and hold without jumping birds. I like them hot blooded and big running in open country. |

With that many bird contacts, she will do fine. I always liked taking a young dog to the UP when the woodcock flights were in. I would take up a young pup and bring home a seasoned gun dog.
Betty will be making her 12th appearance in the UP this fall and I cant imagine being there without her, my new pup Willow, is 5 weeks old today and will ride along this year. Sorry to hear about Triplett.
