Default I Stopped By Today for Some Good Joo-Joo

Headed to Vermont in the early morning and I fully expect the woodcock have mostly all filtered through leaving us with only grouse to gun for.

So I stopped by for some "spiritual help" in the way of possibly bumping into Bill Foster's spirit. I'll admit that I felt something - don't know exactly what it was, but it was almost palpable.

Maybe he'll be looking over my shoulder at that critical point when a grouse flushes with that spine-tingling thunder of wings and he might even nudge my barrels in the right direction...

Karma works - I'm sure of it.

Dean,
We just returned from our first visit to the southern Adirondacks and moved plenty of grouse but very few woodcock. I assumed the flight birds had not yet arrived but maybe we just missed them.

We were in the middle of a flight two weeks ago in Vt.
17 woodcock pointed and flushed in just over an hour.
That’s the best we’ve ever seen it where we hunt.

Larry, is that a 20 or a 28?

It's actually my 6lb. DHE 16 gauge with 3/4oz of #7 1/2 RST's. The 20 and 28 are still drying out from the New Brunswick trip. As the pics below show it was a little wet up there but the 28 still did some good work.
