That is an extremely nice piece of wood. Obviously and EL, but not all ELs look like yours.

One of the best handling, modern guns Merkel ever made. Why they quit making this model is beyond me. Try to find a plain 1620 anywhere. I also love mine. You did good Mathew.

I have to ask:
WHY in God's name are you shooting 1 1/4 oz loads in a 16-bore? Just curious... |

An ounce of number five shot in each chamber is good medicine. *I don't shoot ducks or Geese though.. |

I typically don't shoot 1 1/4 oz but on late season MN pheasants and my shooting ability I like to throw all the lead that I can at the ringnecks. My favorite late load is the Fiocchi 1 1/8 oz #5's.

1 1/4 oz loads are magnum loads in the 16 ga, I have several boxes of magnum 2's and 4's given to me that I will probably never shoot. Doesn't matter how much lead you throw at them, if you don't get those gun barrels out in front of the bird, they will keep flying,
( and I keep demonstrating that to myself with great frequency). That is a wonderful gun!!

I use to shoot "pocket rockets" at pheasants in a 12 gauge. I missed them just the same as a 1oz load. I have 10 boxes of 1 3/8 oz of 5s in 12 gauge. They will never get used.
