That's a fine old "duckbill" Scott. Please be kind to it. I've had a number of them, and the upper horn of the stock head between the top tang and side plates is especially vulnerable to damage.

If you look in the upper right hand corner of the picture that’s the last box my grandfather bought . Box is empty now but I keep it just the same I can remember going in the Gunshop to buy that box when I was eight years old in 1969 .

Don’t have the pics in my phone but I also have a Scott 12 gauge hammerless sidelock and a Scott 20 gauge hammerless back action . I always liked the little hammer windows in all three guns . We “had” a fine old Scott back action 10 very similar to the one I have but with a skoosh better engraving . Sold it to a fellow on GunsInternational and shipped it to him broke down . UPS in their infinite wisdom found a way to put 4 or 5 noticeable dents in the barrels and crack the stock . Guy that bought it wanted to keep it instead of returning it for a refund and of course it was insured . So the barrels if I’m not mistaken went to Kirk Merrington and I think Danny Patton did the stock work . That was a shame as the gun was almost like new before they messed it up .

He had a table at the January Las Vegas Antique & Sporting Arms Show in 2016, first year at the Westgate. Pretty much Jill sat at the table and on a regular basis we saw Randy scurry back and place another prize under the table. Didn't see him in 2017 or 18 and I didn't go this year.

My strongest memory of him was at an OGCA show probably 12 years ago. He was discussing an obscure M70 rifle or carbine for which the records showed only about 7 had been produced. He said he was going to the Las Vegas show the following week, and that there would be 12 or so of therm there for sale. Such is the counterfeiting world. I'm sure it's only gotten worse

They send out a very impressive list of their inventory every couple months. Their last list included more than 100 model 70's and there were 5 Parkers. |
