Charlie,do you folks have any Hickory Trees down your way ? I usually have anywhere from one or two ,to a Dozen Squirrel cutting nuts here in my yard this time of year ,mostly Gray but an occasional Fox Squirrel shows up we don't have Blacks in our area ! We have Both Shagbark Hickory and Pig Nut Hickory ,they seem to enjoy both about the same !

just got thru loading up 10 more shells for the 8 ga this makes me 25 even you could probably tote 4 boxes of 410 shells versus weight...got every thing ready got the clock set for 5.00 am i dont have but a short drive to the hunting grounds....will be hunting with a hammer 8 ga that use to have 34 inch barrel but is now 32 inch...it is fairly light for a 8 ga coming in at 12 lbs...i will be setting in my hunting chair will not walk much with this gun..loaded shells fairly light at 40 grains of bluedot and 1 3/4 ounce of mixed shot some no 6 some 7 1/2 lead...gota go hope all you boys hunting tommorrow have a good day...charlie

got up early this morning at 5.00 grabbed a bite to eat and my gear and took off to my hunting spot...i sat downunder a pecan tree and only had to wait when the first fuzzy tail appeared..he had come a long way to get to the pecan tree he had come out of a huge oak then mayed his way thru the walnut tree then a hackberry tree then into a big ceder tree then to the pecan tree ... i raised the old 8 ga and backed the right hammer then kaboom down came the squirl...the next squirl was killed in the walnut tree...then the rest were all shot in the pecan trees...got 8 alll to gether quit at 9.30....everbody was out of pocket for squirl camp they said next weekend...one thing for surethe old 8 ga does a fine job missed 3 squirls but it was my fault dont see as good as i use to...it was chilly here this morning in the low 60s all i had wore was so light clothing wish i had carried a coat....charlie

Charlie ,sounds like some pretty good Squirrel Gathering to me ! Good Shooting ! I love Squirrel ,we always cunt them in small pieces and layered them with onions and cooked them at a low heat " slow " for hours and they were delicious ! There is actually a bit more to the recipe than that but they are tasty !

went hunting this evening wind was blowing but i just had to try...i carried a 410 stevens double it was like toteing nothing compared to the 8 ga parker... one thing for sure the shells are a lot lighter you could probably tote 3 boxes of 410 compared to the 8 ga shells... the hunt was good but no squirls seen it was really cool i had to wear a coat..all in all it was a good hunt no squirls to clean....charlie
