Alaska ptarmigan
Trigg and another friend came up from Anchorage and we went looking first for ruffies, with no luck at all as there are almost no ruffies this year due to a late spring that caused, I think, most of the nests to fail. So, we tried for ptarmigan up the Steese highway towards Circle at Eagle Summit, about 90miles out of town. It was nippy but not bad and a gorgeous day. We didn't find anything up high but on our way down found a group of 6 and got two of them. Overall a great day in the hills. I was carrying my 24" PHE16, Derek a 16ga guild gun, and Trigg some European O/U.
