Default GE Lefever clay killer

So, on Monday I got a new to me G-Grade Lefever 12 ga/26-incher. She's a circa 1912 gun with ejectors and steel barrels. 26-inch Lefevers are rather rare and most have cut barrels. These barrels are original with tubes that touch at the muzzles and long tapered chokes with constrictions at 11 and 30 points = 1/4 and 3/4 chokes as per the old time nomenclature. 2-3/4" chambers and 7 pounds on the nose.

I shot her this morning on the main course at Rock Mtn and did really well with 83 ex 88, all the shells I had in the bag. Two of the gents I was with had modern side by sides and were shaking their heads and asked to buy her. She also came with the original LOM case which is in nice shape with straps and stitching intact.

Ready for the uplands. I really don't need another upland gun but I just can't pass on nice Syracuse Lefevers.

Is the trigger guard numbered to the gun? Looks like more of a late E grade guard pattern engraved. Nice gun!!!

Josh, I just checked and yes, the trigger guard is numbered to this gun, inside the guard bow. I agree the guard engraving is very similar to (two) E Grade Lefevers I looked at.

For those interested here are three Lefever adverts dated 1907.

Mike, in my experience, all sideplate Lefevers have "heart and soul". That can't be said of any other American shotgun.

Frank very nice gun glad it works so well for you, if I shot 83/88 I would sleep with it! Great shooting.

Further to Josh's question on the trigger guard engraving, here are two pics showing a 1906 EE Lefever (upper gun) and my new GE made about 1912. This GE definitely has enhanced engraving on its trigger guard about on par with that on the E Grade.

Click on 1st pic to check out the duck rising out of the marsh on the EE, and the duck that looks like it's been hit/folding up on the GE. Pretty cool.

2nd pic shows both forends with their metalwork. This GE has engraving on the latch plate, not as elaborate as the EE, but not plain/unfinished as on other G Grade Lefevers I own.
