A friend has an English setter that never met a mud puddle she didn't like.
A mud bath is allegedly therapeutic

Gary, that photo of your pup is truly a laugh out loud moment!

A mud hole is a spa day for our hunting buddies.

Dad's last Brit, Tadpole, loved mud and water more than any dog I ever met

That trait can get a lot worse than mud believe me. Rotten animals, cow piles and human piles. I was hunting a fine little setter near a main road and she found where it looked like someone had emptied a slop jar and boy she had a good time scooting upside down in it. I got a big stick and we went to war.Too late she was covered end to end. Shortly after she pointed a large covey of quail and continued to find singles. I recall her bringing one to me and it was sickening. I quit hunting and we went home. How she could smell birds through all that I don't know. Another time it was two rotten hogs and then again a dead dog. Shall I say decomposed. But the worst by far was Roy's setter named Sport. Sport was the best I ever hunted over. He did it all in high style. Someone had killed a beef and dumped the guts in the woods and they were ripe. We were in birds and here comes Sport with about a three foot by four inch gut in his mouth and he did not want to give it up. Roy thought it might have poison on it so he proceeded to take it from Sport. Needless to say after it was over Roy smelled as bad as Sport. We rode home with the windows down. Roy said his wife made leave his clothes outside. Just memories but I would love to do it all over again. Roy, Snowball, Popcorn, Sam, Ginger, Spanky, Scooter and many others are all gone now. Kinda Lonesome. But Thank You Lord. Gerald.
