Default Parker value question

The Calgary Shooting Centre in Calgary, Canada has a couple of old Parker 16 ga. doubles for sale and an L.C. Smith with two sets of barrels. Wondering if the prices for the Parkers is reasonable. I found them on the Centre's website under Current Inventory. Seems high to me and wonder what others think. From the photos they appear to be in pretty good shape.

Hi Ron,

Welcome to the Parker forum!

I think that vintage SxS prices in Canada are lower than in the United Stated, I state this because I have drooled over Parkers and other SxS listed on webpages of shops in Ontario!

The 16 Gauge LC Smith is way too high! A restocked Elsie has NO collector value to the serious LC Smith collectors. I cannot ascertain the grade from the photos but it appears to be a post-13 gun of perhaps Field or Ideal grade. Those are the lowest grades. $1500 - $3000 at most even with two barrels AND if all else about the gun is good to very good. If this is a Specialty to Crown grade or higher then maybe it is worth what they are asking.

The GH and Trojan Parkers are not overpriced as much as the smith but even in the states those seem like top prices in today's market. Maybe I'm wrong since I'm not a smallbore Parker collector.

Check the shop near Toronto for reasonable Canadian prices! We have a few active Canadian members who will hopefully comment after they wake up...

Mark

Thanks for this Mark. I will check that shop near or at Toronto? If I can find it, don't know much about that area. I'm not sure I can afford them anyway but always sort of liked 16 ga.

The Smith is a Specialty

I agree with Mark as to value in the U.S. where the market remains depressed for non-collectible 'shooters'
