Default Parker Book

I have a book called The Parker Gun An Immortal American Classic. Written by Larry L. Baer. Its a hardcover book with history and information about Parker shotguns. It's in superb condition and has a copyright date of 1974. First edition. Anyone know anything about this book or the author? Thanks for any info.

The author just had an article in Shooting Sportsman. Check it out. It's the only thing I have seen from him in thirty years. He has a lot to share about Parkers. There are three Baer books, a Volume 1, a Volume 2, and a one volume combination of the two. He also published a hard cover reprint of an incredibly rare 1895 Parker Brothers showroom catalog. He has collected, studied, and written about Parkers for decades. Before he wrote, he ran a gunsmithing and refinishing operation called Bearcat Sports. I have not seen any discussion of his life before writing the books. I just happen to be old enough to remember.

Thanks for that information. I got the book from our Ballistics Unit before I retired from the State Police. It is a very informative book.

If you are interested in Parkers, you may consider haunting ebay and amazon.com to find the "other" version. If you really get interested, you should buy Ed Muderlak's two books on Parkers which are not yet out of casual reader prices. It will come soon enough.

Contact The Double Gun Journal they have slightly blemished set for $200.00. From what I have heard nobody has found the "Blemish" yet. There was a dicussion on here in the last couple of weeks and there are a few set yet to be had. I really a great deal for anyone needing a set.
