As far as price differences, I figure a 16 has about a 1.5x premium over a 12 and a 20 a 2x premium over a 12.

I've been saying for years that if I had to get down to one shotgun- "It would be a 16ga"
That statement can be expanded to "It would be a Parker 16 on a 0-frame or an Fox with 3 or 4 weight barrels. I prefer the just right length 28" barrels but more importantly the gun needs to weight somewhere around 6.5lbs. The beauty of both the Parkers & Fox sixteens is you can find them in weights as low as the high 5 to the low 6lb range which makes for a wonderful package to carry all day in the uplands. The ever present problem with the sixteen here in America is it's considered the red-headed stepchild gauge. I believe a lot of the reason for that is it wasn't included in the official gauge line-up when the game of skeet came around. Unfortunately the 20ga will always overshadow the 16 here in America. |

This 16 ga. gun has the number 1 frame instead of the 0 frame that I would prefer. Does the number 1 frame hurt the value much? Also the gun has 30 inch barrels.

One weekend in Vegas (how many good stories start out this way?), I purchased 3 16ga's from Ivory Beads. They were high condition Grade 2 and 3, 28" and 30", English and PG stocks. The 30" zero frame is a dream to carry. As they say, carries like a twenty hits like a twelve. I was about 20g's lighter that weekend. I told the spousal unit I blew it on hookers and blow as she gets really annoyed when I buy another Parker.

In keeping...I have 7......4 O frames...a Trojan..O frame Grade 1 hammer with cuts..and a 32" VHE..Hard to pick a favorite..

I have a 16 0 frame GHE three barrel set 24", 28", and 30", all factory, that is, obviously, my favorite. However, there are a few more 16s that I treasure in my collection. Lately, I have been shooting my Grade 2 hammer gun, 0 frame, milled receiver, and having a great time. It is tubed to 28 gauge by Briley, and I'm thinking about having Briley tube my Lindner 16 hammer gun to 28 gauge also.

For the original poster..
I have a one frame VH 16 that has 28" barrels IMC and full chokes.. It weighs 6lbs. 3oz. All letters to the gun..... The stock's pistol grip fits my hand perfectly...... I have a very nice VH 28 and 20 that I like very much but to me they just don't fit me or feel as nice.... BTW the 20 is heavier and the 28 isn't that much lighter then the 16... JMHO ......Look for a 16 like that....should be in the 2-3k area maybe more through a dealer Good Luck....
