Mikey that Spolar is sporty looking and I've heard theyre top of the line !

But if I ever upgraded from the Rube Goldberg MEC's I'd have to go back to PW's . I'm sure there are more changes than I see but the basic design is the same or so it appears to me . Then again a new Spolar is about double the cost of a comperable PW unit .

I'm with you on the hydraulic aspect of loading plus I don't want the likely chance of hydraulic lines leaking in my shop or basement or wherever I might have the unit set up .

Just started using the Spolar again after a 12 + year hiatus. Even had it set up for the shells I want to make now. 12g 7/8oz with 16g Clays for 1160 FPS. Also have top plates for 20, 28 & .410 if I want production numbers. I spoke with Spolar last week and they may be able to set me up with a top plate for 12g that'll load 2 1/2" shells. If they can do that I may inquire about a 16g 2 1/2" top plate too.
A dearly departed friend at his demise had a PW 800 Plus with heads for 12-16-20-28 and 410 . Two bolts out the top and change all the sizing dies and you were pretty much done . I always found it quite comforting to walk in my loading room when I had PW's bolted on the bench for all four skeet gauges , kinda like to do that again but the ends a hell of a lot closer than the end LOL's !

You need the same thing I really need , a PW LS-1000 setup at the factory for 10 gauge 2 7/8"

Default PW's or Spolar

I currently use a PW for 12, 20, 28, and 410, and I'm waiting on 16 gauge dies.

it is easy to switch gauges and I like it allot. I of course have a Mec setup for 10 gauge 2 7/8 and also a Mec for 8 gauge.

I would still like to try a Spolar, am I wrong in thinking the Spolar would be the Cadillac of shot shell reloaders Mike?

Here you go Stan, Spolar hydraulic with dies for 12,20,and 28ga. I don't care what reloader you have, they all have their pluses and minuses. I can take off a 12ga. die for example, put it back on a year later and nothing will have to be adjusted and it will make a perfect shell. In the picture when the shell is ejected out the back, there is a large hole in the bench top and the shell goes into the drawer. Your welcome to stop in when your in the Harrisburg area and see it in action.

I’d heard about your setup from a mutual friend And I still think you need K-20 410 barrels and a Spolar 410 head

I'll have to find an extra $4.5k laying around that I don't need and that ain't going to happen!

Stan, there are some good presses out there and then there are some GREAT presses out there. Spolar is top of the line. Maybe 5 minutes to change gauges too. I didn’t use it for over 10 years and all I did was schmutz it up and it runs like it did way back when. Nothing wrong with my MEC machines. They do their jobs well too.
