Default Parker + Brittany = quails

I took my boy Nash out on his first hunt and I could not be happier. For a dog with no training I think he did a hell of a job. It was such a pleasure to see him on point that at times I forgot to take a shot. Just to see him do what's been bred into him for generations was amazing.
I also took My 0 grade 16 ga hammer gun with 32 inch pipes.

Nice looking Brit.

Is there a longer version of your hunt?

Default The long version

Here you go Dean..
As you can see from the pictures it was a beautiful sunny day with a slight brease, white puffy clouds with temperature in the low seventies. We waited about 30 minutes after releasing the birds it did'nt take him long to find bird.
Being his first bird of the day he was still too excited and he barely held his point. He flushed the bird before I was ready and I missed with the first shot but managed to get him with the left bbl. That gave me a chance to work on him finding dead. Which he did, and after some begging he finally brought me the bird.
After the first bird, he was a complete different dog. Something just clicked. Man, what a sight to see my boy on point and hold the point all the way thru the shot and then go after the bird.
After taking a short break I handed my Parker to my friend Jonathan so he could take the next point. This time it was one of those points where he's searching and all of a sudden he stops and his turns to the side. He's head is down, his butt is up and he's frozen on point.
Jonathan gets in position, flushes the bird and missed on his first shot. He takes a second shot and Nash is off after the bird. We follow and find him on point behind a bush. Jonathan gets in position behind Nash, only to find the bird we both thought he missed. If it was'nt for Nash we would have lost that bird.
The othet points were'nt as memorable seeing as how we did'nt do our part. But at least I can say, my boy can hunt!! And he was holding his point and retrieved. All without training. I'm still high from the experience.

Thanks Angel. Sounds like a very rewarding hunt for both you and Nash.

I had two Brits long ago and like Nash, they were both naturals.
