Gary this is 1 beautiful gun. Can you share the letter with us? Have you been able to match any of the initials with early contractors or employees? Thank-you for sharing this Parker with the rest of us.

Erick, I have no letter it is to early, I am sure the guy I bought the gun from will not mind if I give his name, Mr Bill Mullins, I have not tried to match initials with contractors, The gun was featured in several publications, Bill had the gun a long time, I am fortunate to be its keeper now, I think it is the best example of an early front action damascus, lifter in 14 gauge in original condition out there, maybe Bill can add some info? Gary, according to testimony given by Charles King, Parker Bros. only produced their own composite barrels in 1877, 1878, and 1879 and it is my own belief that they were Laminated Steel. It is also my belief that the Parker produced barrels have a P stamped on the right barrel flat where the steel type designation stamp normally appears.

Right Gary. We've seen that PB in the shield stamp on Damascus and Twist barrels pretty often.

I don't know what the shield with the PB means or represents. Possibly the manufacturer in Belgium or Birmingham....... or maybe they were stamped after striking at Parker Bros.
