Default Surprise buy on a 10 gauge

I built up my war chest for my up coming Bison hunt, and went to pick up a Winchester 71 rebarreled for a 50-110 that had come into a local shop.
To my surprise a Parker 10 gauge hammer gun had just came in. I swore no more shotguns, but this one was.too much to pass up. Hammer gun on a 5 frame, 36" Damascus barrels. Weighs 12 lbs. 14 oz.
Thanks to Chuck I was able to get information on the gun and I bought the gun today. It Needs some work but all original with modern Demensions. Bores are frosted but almost pit free. Letters to 3" chambers. It was targeted for 8'shot. Went to Bancroft NE in 1890. Now the fun part begins trying to piece together some history if I can.
It will be 19 days before I can pick up due to local gun sale requirement that guns sold to shops must be held by the dealer for 3 weeks in case a gun has been reported stolen. Cannt wait to pick it up.

Question Old Gun

I'm guessing that is a pre-1898 gun and I'm wondering why you would ever have to wait for that particular gun. Whoever's telling you have to wait for a pre-1898 gun is telling you the wrong thing, unless it is not a pre-1898 gun.

It is a local law to see if a gun is in any database as reported stolen and prevent potential legal ramifications down the road.

Phil, I know this is a Parker forum, but I would love to hear more on the Winchester 71.
Very interesting choice of caliber. Maybe you could post a couple pics.
BTW, kudos on the 10 ga hammer gun. Sounds like a very nice find!

Default waiting

I see Jim. They have the same thing in the state of Washington, but they usually won't display a gun until it clears in the event there is an issue.
And yes, let's see some pictures when you get it!corn:

Gents,

Post all non-Parker gun discussions in the Other Fine Doubles or members Off Topics sections.
