Default Andover Sportsmans Club Invitational

I'm not a member of this club anymore but my brother and some friends still are. A number of members have started a group of antique and C&R firearms aficionados and I was told about it. In about March of this year I asked if I could attend some of their group's meetings and was told absolutely yes I could and would I mind bringing some of my Parkers to show the rest of the group at their inaugural meeting... which I did.

In May they had their first shoot using some revolvers, carbines, rifles, etc from before the turn of the last century. I couldn't attend that meeting due to conflicting schedules.
But today was their antique shotgun shoot and I asked if they would like me to bring a bunch of my Parkers and allow everybody to shoot them.... a resounding "Yes, Please do!"

We had a BLAST!!... (pun intended)

Here are some pictures.

The big guy in the black shorts, Steve, and the petite lady in the blue T-shirt, Cheryl, were the organizers of the group and of today's event. The teenage boy was amazed and absolutely loved shooting all of my Parkers but especially the big 10 Bore.
Frank Cronin was kind and generous enough to donate some of his black powder "cannon loads" and everybody in attendance (and even some folks down at the rifle range 100 yds. away) was duly impressed.

My older brother, Chris (black T-shirt) hadn't shot a shotgun in probably 50 years and we finally talked him into shooting the big 10.

The guns I brought, and that everybody shot, were my VHE 28 ga. - DH 12 ga. - DH 20 ga. (Adm Thos. Perry's gun) - my Grade 1 sixteen gauge hammer gun (that I just got back from Brad) - and my 30" Grade 3 Lifter in 10 ga.

A great day and a lot of fun indoctrinating some folks to Parker shotguns.

Photography by my good friend Jeff, who is also my son-in-law's Dad.

Dean, it's great of you to introduce your younger brother to vintage shotguns and Parkers.

Glad everything worked out well Dean.

Shooting black powder never gets old. Lots of smiles and laughs.

Frank, my 10 gauge D is on a 3-frame, weighs 9 lbs on the nose, and is considerably lighter than yours. Cheryl and I were about the only ones who shot it who were not rocked back by those loads, as you can see by the pictures.

Frank - Once again, Thank You for your contribution!

I second this!

Dean, the work that you do for the PGCA is commendable!
I am completely impressed by your hard work as the editor of the Parker Pages, the wealth of knowledge that you bring and share with this forum, the organization of events, such as this Andover Gun Club event, and many others.

THANK YOU!
