Default New Years Day shoot - Barrington NH

Just a reminder, we are less than a week away from what has become an annual event in the Northeast, The Major Waldron's New Years Day PGCA funshoot.

As in the past firing commences at 9AM and concludes when the last shooter has had enough. We will be using two fields that can be trap or skeet. Cost per round will be $5 per round ($4.50 is the normal non-member rate) and .50 will be put in a winner take all kitty. The plan is for each shooter to shoot at least 2 rounds of skeet and 2 rounds of trap for score. Time should allow for more shooting. Last year we shot a unique form of Protection/Annie Oakley. Each team had a two shooters firing at a trap target from the 27 yard line. Each team had a 10ga shooting the backup shot. If the 10ga could break a bird the smaller bore missed the team was awarded a hit for score. If we get at least 5 10ga guns in attendance we will do that again. Team members were selected at random by pulling names from a hat.

Each of the last NYD shoots has seen attendees bring many delicious dishes, including lasagna, mac and cheese. Steamed hot dogs and coffee will also be available. Hopefully we will treated to wonderful food dishes again.

Some interesting and outstanding guns have been at this shoot and I hope those owners and guns come again like John Dunkle and his wonderful heirloom AAHE trap and Frank Cronin with his 5 frame hammer 10ga shooting his earth shaking BP reloads.

I hope to see all our past attendees and some new faces this coming Sunday.

Cheers

Pete,

Why do you New Englanders have to be so far from Michigan! The New Year's Day shoot is the place to be to in all of Parkerland to welcome 2012 with a bang!

Good shooting to you!
Mark

I'm looking forward to it --- and for the new year in 2012.

2011 was a difficult year for me personally so I am determined to make this a year that really counts.

To start the year with a bang, no pun intended, I rolled up 200 plus of 4 1/4 drams of 2F BP; 1 1/4 of lead shot ready go with plenty for others who asked if they could shoot the o'l smoke pole. Should be enough to go around.....

I will be there early and I will bring a coffee box of "Joe" or probably two from Dunkin's and some donuts, muffins, etc. to start off the morning.

Looking forward to seeing old familiar faces and some new ones.

Thanks Frank, that is good to know, I think the club is required to give advance notice to the USGS siesmic monitoring station in Lisbon NH.

We'll see and hear you on Sunday.

Pete, you forgot to post the times of sun and clouds. I'd like to know exactly when it will be cloudy so I can plan to shoot then without the glare from the sun.

I'll bring some delicious meatballs in a special sauce and rolls to make meatball sandwiches.

Believe it or not when I was shooting a lot of competitive trap the hardest squad numbers to get in the NH and Maine state championship were #20 to #24. Those squads would be going to the line a the time the sun was at the best angle to see the targets in the first 100 of 200 in the singles championship.
