Default Vintage Peters Shell

Does anyone have an idea of when this vintage 10 gauge peters shotshell was made? It it a 2 7/8 inch paper shell loaded with no. 4 shot.

i think this shell will range from the late 30 s to the 50 s...these shells were mighty good game getters i have taken several turkeys with this same shell...charlie

If you are looking for a full box to display, try Ward's Collectibles or Gun Broker. If you are trying to fill a partial box, you may get lucky there, also.

Actually as early as 1926 --



However, the shell in question has the non-corrosive primer which Peters called "Rustless" so it is 1931 or later. The 10-, 12-, 16- and 20-gauges got the folded "pie" crimp about 1947 except the 10-gauge shells with BB shot continued to be roll crimped for some time?!?

I've found the Peters 10 gauge to be oddly scarce. I think I've seen one box in all the looking I've done. I used to have a few singles but I think they went in a trade to Richard.
