I believe the "screw" may be a 1 stamp or some other figure that looks like a 1.

I believe what you're seeing is the letter "I", which is found on many Repros, just as the letter "F" has been found on some as well. Assumed to have been stamped by the factory for accounting purposes.

Shortly after posting the above, I’m now questioning whether I’m right or not. If I am correct then fine. But, what we’re actually questioning appears to simply be an “l” and not the letter “I”. Is it a different stamp for the same purpose or does it have a different meaning?

I went into RHO today after shooting, and the NIB repro that a member friend traded in sold almost immediately. Ryan looked it up in the book and reported the SN as 00627. Then, a brief period of lucidity told me I actually listed the gun here:

and the photos I posted in that listing clearly shows the SN. No '20-xxxx' or P-xxxx, just numerals. I had never seen this before, nor have I seen another similar example since
