Edit: I did obtain a research letter. It indicates the gun was manufactured originally with 26” barrels. I’m trying to understand how the current barrels came to be with the correct serial number(is that a thing Parker would do), whether or not that work was done by Parker based off of barrel flat markings, and any approximate timing for their creation based on available markings. I agree, the exact origins of how we went from 26-28 is fun speculation at best. I probably should have been more clear on my ask.

Sure, either the barrels or just the rib were/was made before the roll stamp change.

The order book and the stock book don’t always agree.
I have a DHE 28 gauge where one book (and the Serialization book as well) says it was made with 28” Titanic Steel barrels and the other book shows it having been made with 24” Damascus barrels.

Today the gun sports 24” Damascus barrels.

It would seem only the order book was available for my gun. I think with all the evidence present i would feel comfortable telling myself however the barrels got there was via the Parker factory and it was done around the time of original manufacture. I understand that this is speculation to some level, but it's reasonably well backed up. At least to me.

and when was that?
I've recorded this marking on 216976 --

216976 02 V in circle barrel steel.jpg

But no such marking on 217036 --

217036 01 VH, 16-gauge, xx-inch.jpg

From my observations the lowest serial number I've recorded with the PARKER BROS. OVERLOAD PROVED stamp on its original barrels is 219511 --

219511 01a.jpg

However, this could be a gun that languished in inventory as it has what appears to be a Remington date code of BD (B = January, D = 1935
)?!?

Here is 220042 with the PARKER BROS. OVERLOAD PROVED stamp --
