A shooter versus a safe queen. Lets make a totally inappropriate comparison. Wife 1 is able to gut, skin and section a deer, bait there own hook, balance a check book, bring you a beer, is happy living within your means and has curves in most of the right places. Wife 2 could be a Victoria Secret model who needs the latest haute couture and expects to be waited on, makes reservations instead of dinner and thinks a night out clubbing with her friends and your credit card is her divine right. Yeah I'd go with the shooter over the looker which I already did if you have seen Pretty Wife at one of the events.

Tough decision but considering how much you like to shoot your doubles, I think the DHE would see more action in the field and in the marsh.

Yeah, tough decision Craig.

Neither take the money a 20 would cost and get yourself a Bernard CHE 12 or even a BHE 12

On another thread it was mentioned that true “collectors” generally don’t participate in the online chatter. I think this thread is a perfect case in point. At an auction the mint 30” VHE 20ga always brings more than the well worn DHE 20 but here it would seem (Incorrectly) based on this thread and the responses herein that the greater demand is for the DHE. Condition wins every time - the buyers of the minty collector guns are simply more private and don’t often post publicly.

So far it's just me and you on the VHE. Funny this seems like such a no brainer "to me" yet most folks appear to think opposite.

I disagree with the idea of "incorrectly" we all buy guns for different reasons. It isn't all tied down to ROI. "True collectors" is a matter of opinion. I think you are just seeing the people on this forum prefer a gun they can hunt and use compared to a safe queen. I fail to see how that makes them incorrect or less than true collectors. The guns mean more to them than an investment, which I think makes them more of a collector than someone than is simply wanting to get a maximized return. Which sounds more like an investor than a collector to me anyway.

But that's simply my opinion.

Are they both pistol grip? I would buy the straight grip one.

Same think happened to me with 20 G Trojans . Both unmolested 28 inch one used very little other well worn hunters gun.

Bought both, fact is I use the well worn gun much more than the high condition gun. Condition excepted, it was a choice between equals. VHE vs DHE both sound mechanically ? DHE would be my choice. I have no concern about future value and always prefer something I will use and enjoy. D engraving is a pleasure to look at.
