This is exactly what I suggested doing previously.

I sent the seller a scathing email from the "Ask the seller a question". "Scammer", "Criminal" and "Scum" were some of my words. It's almost humorous the way these unscrupulous characters are so obvious in their evil intent. It's unfortunate GB has no easy way to report and shut down these simpletons. If you have routinely followed GB over the years as I have you know who the reputable members are. Any seller/vendor with single digit feedback is a risk and further vetting would be necessary. There are many GB members that are completely trustworthy.
I'm pleased the buyer shoved this auction back in his face. There is a certain lawlessness on the web and law enforcement offers little to no assistance in these matters. "Caveat emptor".

There really is no repercussion for "buying" the item to shut it down. Except negative feedback. Which Gunbroker would remove once it is clear that it is a scam. So it really is a great way to take the matter into ones own hands when it is seen.

I had previously noticed that these bogus accounts do work together (likely are the same person anyway) to leave positive feedback for each other. In this case the seller had 3 positive feedbacks from three different users, all were very low ratings and two of which were no longer registered users.

Spotting the scam listings is pretty damn easy. The pricing is half what the gun should be and the feedback ratings are NR or very low.

You can report fraudulent listings, but it is not very easily done directly from the listing. You have to write down the listing numbers and then follow a number of links and then report the information to them that way.

Default Scammers

Most of these people are in another country and once the money is transacted it is gone, impossible to get back. During my working life we had an incident in our Reno Nevada office in where a person of unknow identity called the state of Nevada and said that we (the company) were changing our electronic deposit account and would they please switch to this new number. The low level state employee did not question it or follow up with a call to our local office to confirm and verify the change. Our monthly project progress payment came up and was electronically sent to the new account. After a period of time our office controller called the state and asked where the payment was and of course that exposed the problem. It was discovered that the people were in a foreign country and there was no possibility of recovering the money. That costed the state of Nevada $2.7 MILLION dollars. So, things happen out there.

Looks like GB shut the sellers account down and altered the original feedback thread from "wolf-clan-man" to exclude the lengthy diatribe and equally lengthy seller response. Worse than scammers, I hate content editors who play fast and loose with internet messages. Now you see it, now you dont.
